The company could reveal the new console, which is expected to be a "handheld/hybrid design", to the public in October, Express.co.uk reports.

This comes after the £349.99 price of the console was reportedly revealed by supermarket chain Tesco, which listed the new product before quickly removing it.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has praised the NX as a "fantastic machine.

The publisher has several titles in development for the Japanese company's new console and from what Guillemot has seen of the new hardware he is impressed.

Speaking to IGN, Guillemot spilled: "The new Nintendo is a fantastic machine. It's really a new approach, it's really Nintendo, [which is] coming with something new again. We love it."

Guillemot insists Nintendo has learned the lessons from the mistakes it made with its last console the Nintendo Wii U, which suffered from a lack of must-have games at launch.

He added: "What we see is that Nintendo has learned from the Wii U. I think the interface is very attractive. It's a machine that will be easy to use for all gamers. They have built in something that will give us chance to really have a different experience from what exists today. That's what I like - that they come with something new that is adapted to what we actually want now."

Little is known about the NX except that it is a handheld / home console hybrid that will run cartridges and it will integrate with upcoming smart phone games made by Nintendo.

Ubisoft - which is responsible for creating franchises such as 'Assassin's Creed', 'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell' and 'Rayman' - has several games in development for the NX, including a new version of 'Just Dance' for the console when it launches in March 2017.

So far, there are four games confirmed for the Nintendo NX; 'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild', 'Dragon Quest X', 'Dragon Quest XI', and 'Just Dance'.
