SEGA has recently released a spotlight trailer to show off the wonderful Wisps within the upcoming remaster Sonic Colours: Ultimate; we see a whole host of power-ups for the blue hedgehog just dying to be used!
Sonic Colours was a beloved platformer from 2010, in which fans played as Sonic, a blue creature with supersonic speeds and an ego to match. Sonic has been entertaining kids and adults alike for decades, and now we can experience the original Sonic Colours once again, but with a new look, and plenty of exciting features.
The upcoming game, which will be released on September 7th, 2021, will offer its players some awesome upgrades, including HD updates and visual improvements, 60 FPS, re-vamped lighting, better graphics, as well as 4K resolution.
In addition to these already brilliant features, Sonic Colours: Ultimate also includes an all-new game mode called Rival Rush, in which you will face Metal Sonic which will yield you amazing rewards – but only if you win.
Players can also collect pack tokens to use in the in-game store; this will allow users to customize their Sonic with gloves, boosts, auras and shoes, making each Sonic unique to every player.
In the new trailer, released only yesterday (August 5th, 2021), SEGA has shown off the Wisps. Wisps give players powers to use in levels, and there are plenty of those to utilise in the upcoming remaster.
There are nine Wisps in total, including the White Wisp, which fills up your boost gauge allowing you to accelerate into super speeds, destroying enemies and obstacles in your path.
Purple Wisp changes Sonic into a hungry, purple frenzy which causes him to eat anything in his path.
Cyan Wisp will turn Sonic into a powerful laser of that colour, moving players through the level at lighting speeds; Sonic can also zap enemies in his way.
Jade Wisps can transform Sonic into a jade-coloured ghost, letting players float around and phase through solid objects, occasionally coming across a hidden area.
Yellow Wisp will turn Sonic into a yellow drill, and dig through not only land, but will allow Sonic to torpedo his way through the watery areas of levels.
There are even more Wisps to discover that will make this remaster even more exciting; they can be utilised to aid Sonic in his journey through Dr. Eggman’s Incredible Interstellar Amusement Park!
Sonic Colours: Ultimate will release on multiple platforms, including PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, on September 7th, 2021.
