Insomniac Games are developing an exclusive 'Spider-Man' game for PS4.
Sony confirmed the game at PlayStation's E3 show on Monday (13.06.16) and Creative Director at Insomniac, Bryan Intihar, called the experience a dream come true.
He said: "When I first learned Insomniac was approached by our long-time friends and collaborators at Sony Interactive Entertainment with the opportunity to create a blockbuster 'Spider-Man' console game experience, I [immediately] professed my passion for 'Spider-Man' - along with a desire to serve as creative director
"From comics to films and TV, Marvel has a stellar reputation for unique characters and storytelling filled with personality and humour. Those are tenets we value deeply in our own craft.
"We love building big games, with incredible gameplay, deep stories, and beautiful graphics.
"'Spider-Man' is one of the most iconic and well-known characters in the world, and we're thrilled to be given the responsibility to create a brand-new, authentic 'Spider-Man story'."
Marvel's Creative Games Director Bill Rosemann was equally effusive in his praise for Insomniac.
He said: "When Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created Peter Parker, they broke the mould of what a superhero could be and set the bar by which all others would be judged. And that's exactly what we plan to do with this game: break the mould and set a new bar of greatness for Marvel Games!
"Insomniac is a perfect match for 'Spider-Man' because not only are they world class game developers that make phenomenal story-driven experiences, but they also craft games bursting with personality, humour and most importantly: fun...just like Spidey."
The game is not based on the upcoming 'Spider-Man' movie and will introduce a more seasoned Peter Parker who has experience fighting crime in New York.
