The heists in Grand Theft Auto Online have always been a huge part of player experience in the game, so fans will be excited to hear that yet another heist’s release is right around the corner, with a huge December update bringing a slew of new features to the ever-popular online title.
Despite launching in October 2013, those who have stuck with GTA Online have been treated by Rockstar Games, who have consistently put efforts into making it an open world that people can return to time and again, with new and unique features to enjoy.
On December 15th 2020, little over a year after the release of The Diamond Casino Heist (December 12th 2019), the stakes are raised once more with the arrival of The Cayo Perico Heist, featuring an exotic new location and a brand new approach to heist design, allowing players to tackle the entire heist on their own for the first time ever.
You will of course also be able to invite your crew along, with up to three other players able to join you on your mission to infiltrate and rob one of the most secure private islands in the world.
Whether you want to tackle the security forces stationed on the island head-on with brunt force, or evade them with tactical stealth, it's your goal to escape with as much art, gold and drug money as you can carry. Taking a cut of the final tally, this should make for some healthy boosts to your GTA Online bank total!
Not content with just delivering this aspect of the update however, Rockstar have also promised "new social spaces to party with friends, new world-class DJs and radio stations with over 100 new songs plus, a host of vehicles and weapons, a heavily-armed Submarine HQ and much more.”
Count us in! For those of us who love making our online avatars look as glamorous as we feel, we’ll also be hoping for some new clothes, tattoos and the like, as well as potential new items we can purchase for our living spaces.
The Caya Perico Heist arrives to Grand Theft Auto Online on Tuesday, December 15th 2020.
