Legendary tennis player Naomi Osaka is the latest A-list star to join the Fortnite Icon Series, collaborating with the game after the likes of LeBron James and Ariana Grande have been a part of the battle royale extravaganza.
Allowing Naomi to connect with her fans through a metaverse-like digital experience, she brings the spirit of individuality to proceedings with cosmetic offerings, such as two in-game outfits and a plethora of accessories.
Naomi's not the only Osaka to get involved; her sister Mari actually helped design the in-game outfits, inspired by their family heritage.
"I've been playing Fortnite for a long time," said Naomi. "When I saw LeBron had joined the Icon Series, it made me want to join the Fortnite family too. It's really amazing to be able to connect with so many people around the world."
Global VP of Partnerships at Epic Games, Nate Nanzer added: "The Icon Series is the ultimate celebration of the most dynamic figures in culture for Fortnite's audience of millions, and there's no-one more perfect than Naomi Osaka to join the Series as the first female athlete. Just as Fortnite is more than a game, Naomi is so much more than an athlete."
To celebrate the collaboration, Naomi will be buddying up with Twitch streamer berleezy, for a casual stream showcasing the Naomi Outfits in action. It starts Tuesday, March 1st at 7pm ET (Wednesday, March 2nd at midnight in the UK).
A mural showcasing the costumes has also gone up today in Hollywood, Los Angeles.
Players will be able to get involved from March 2nd, when the Naomi Osaka Cup gets underway. Top-performing players in each region will unlock both Outfits, as well as both Pickaxes and Back Blings from the Naomi Osaka Set, topping it all off with an exclusive Spray.
