'Monument Valley 2' has been released for iOS.
The sequel to the critically acclaimed puzzle game - which was released in 2014 - was made available to download for $5 on the iTunes app store on Monday (05.06.17), on the same day that the developers at Ustwo Games actually announced the follow-up.
According to the 'Monument Valley' website, although the game is a sequel, players don't have to have played the first instalment to enjoy the new story.
In the first instalment, players must guide Princess Ida through mazes of optical illusions and impossible objects, which are referred to as "sacred geometry" in-game, as she journeys to be forgiven for something.
'Monument Valley 2', however, focuses on a woman named Ro and her young child, although the concept of moving the characters through optical illusions remains the same.
The description of the game on its website reads: "A completely new story from the Monument Valley universe. You don't need to have previously played 'Monument Valley' to enjoy 'Monument Valley 2'.
"Enjoy beautiful levels filled with illusory, meditative puzzles, using brand new interactions to explore the changing dynamics between characters.
"Artwork inspired by an eclectic mixture of architectural styles, artistic movements and personal influences, each translated into stunning geometric structures.
"Immerse yourself in uniquely melodic interactive soundscapes, tailored perfectly to every step of Ro and her child's journey."
'Monument Valley' was an incredible success for independent developers Ustwo Games, having made in excess of 26 million sales since it's launch in 2014.
The first instalment of the game won an Apple Design Award in 2014, and was also named Apple's best iPad game of the same year.
