'The Flash' star Liam McIntyre is to voice the lead character in 'Gears of War 4'.
The 34-year-old actor - who played Weather Wizard in three episodes of the DC Comics superhero series - has signed up to provide words for soldier JD Fenix in the third-person shooter.
In the upcoming game, JD is the son of hero Marcus Fenix - the main character in the previous instalments in the franchise - who is on the run after going AWOL in a classified incident.
Speaking about his acting role for the title, McIntyre told Game Informer: "It's kind of terrifying, because I get to be the lead in a new era of '...Gears', which is unbelievable, amazing, and exciting. I'm the legacy, because my dad is Marcus Fenix.
"JD's a soldier and a bit of a freedom fighter, and in his heart he's a bit of a renegade. He's different from Marcus, but he's still that heroic archetype."
JD's squad consists of survivalist Kait Diaz - voiced by World of Warcraft's Laura Bailey - and fellow AWOL soldier Del, who is voiced by 'Arrow' star Eugene Byrd.
McIntyre has also appeared in the TV shows 'Spartacus' and 'The 'Killing Field'.
'Gears of War 4' is set to be released on Xbox One at the end of 2016.
