To celebrate the launch of their exclusive title Horizon Forbidden West, PlayStation have teamed up with the Eden Project, home of the National Wildflower Centre, to highlight just how important the UK's crucial wildflower habitats are.
As part of the partnership, the iconic Eden Project Biomes in Cornwall have been lit up, to represent Aloy's Shieldwing that features in the new game.
More importantly, the creation of a 12-acre wildflower habitat in Morecambe, Lancashire will be sown in March 2022, spread across sites in and around the town, including Sunny Slopes in Heysham, one of the main gateways on to the promenade, as well as West End Gardens and Happy Mount Park.
Morecombe plays host to Eden Project North, which was designed to reimagine the British seaside resort for the 21st century, showcasing the incredible life and rhythms of the famous Morecambe Bay. After being granted planning permission in January 2022, Eden Project North is due to open in 2024.
Since the 1930s, there has been an estimated loss of 97% of wildflower meadows in England and Wales, so the National Wildflower Centre is combining conservation, creativity and colour in a bid to unleash vibrant new habitats in underused spaces across the UK.
David Harland, CEO Eden Project International, said: “We are delighted to be working with PlayStation to create new wildflower habitats in Morecambe. In supporting these new nature spaces this project further under lines our commitment to the town and our desire to make a lasting transformation to the residents of Morecambe and the place they live.”
Horizon Forbidden West is available now for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4, allowing fans to return to the critically-acclaimed universe first set out in 2017's Horizon Zero Dawn.
