Today (September 10th, 2019), Rockstar Games have announced the release of Red Dead Online: Frontier Pursuits. Bringing three new specialist roles to the game, as well as exciting new gameplay features and the introduction of the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Club, players have got a lot to wrap their heads around! That's why we're breaking down all of the exciting and unique additions to Red Dead Online, so you can get ahead when you jump back into the game!
Specialist Roles
Each Specialist Role offers a unique path of progression, providing experiences that allow you to become more deeply connected to your character and choices you make as you take on the world of Red Dead Online. Each Role allows you access to unique items and skills, with cash and gold payouts as you progress.
Each Role will automatically earn Role XP as you complete specific activities, which counts towards your progression through a total of 20 Role Ranks. A new tier of distinction can be reached within each Role at every five ranks: Novice, Promising, Established and Distinguished.
Unlocking a Role Rank earns Role Tokens, and when you reach certain ranks there will be new skills unlocked. Each tier also has kits of items unique to the Role, which can be unlocked to purchase using collected Role Tokens.
So, about those three unique roles...
Bounty Hunter
After purchasing the Bounty Hunter License in Rhodes, you can get started on your path to glory by picking up work from bounty boards, located near law offices, train stations and post offices across the states. Some criminals will be easy to pick-up, going it alone, whilst others will be notorious outlaws with full armed protection details. Bring your Posse along to ensure success, as each member of the group will earn a cut, and remember; bringing in targets alive yields greater rewards.
Trader
Camp companion Cripps may be handy with a harmonica, but it's his skills in working with animal materials that will help you out if you want to enjoy your Red Dead Online journey as a Trader. Embarking on this Role's missions will see you turn your camp into a business, by sourcing materials for Cripps to turn into luxury, sellable goods. Get your business up-and-running with a Butcher's Table, which will set you back 15 Gold Bars.
Collector
Finally, the Collector Role. You can kickstart your journey as a Collector by seeking out mysterious travelling saleswoman, Madam Nazar. Once you've met her, you can acquire the Collector's Bag and get started. Explore the world to find valuable treasures, including hidden family heirlooms and even some discarded Tarot cards in abandoned camps. Keep your trusty shovel on you at all times if you want to make a success of yourself!
Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Club
Those who login to Red Dead Online between today (September 10th, 2019) and November 18th, 2019 will be automatically enrolled into the Wheeler, Rawson & Co. Club for free. Providing new clothing and accessories, as well as bonus cash, care packages, a new emote, special gun wrap and a new graphic camp flag, you'd be daft not to take advantage!
The Outlaw Pass
For those who have Gold Bars to burn, there's the option of upgrading to The Outlaw Pass which, for 35 Gold Bars, offers even more rewards over time including exclusive clothing, weapons styling, campsite themes, cash and Gold Bar gifts.
Ultimate Edition and PlayStation+ perks
All Ultimate Edition players will see the price of two new steeds unlocked in the Bounty Hunter's Role progression waived. The sturdy Sorrel Breton and handsome Red Roan Breton will be available, free of charge, to those putting their Bounty Hunter skills to good use!
PlayStation 4 players get even more benefits, including a free Butcher's Table to get started as a Trader, the Trader Camp Theme, and a Weapons Locker that are both unlocked at Trader Role Rank 5, free of charge through October 14th, 2019 from the Wilderness Outfitters store. They'll also get early access to the American Foxhound Camp Dog, Shoot The Sky Emote, three new Ability Cards, and three new clothing items through October 14th, 2019. As if that wasn't enough, the cherry on top comes in the form of RDO $250 for playing via PlayStation Plus at any point between September 10th, 2019 and October 7th, 2019.
Twitch Prime Members
Anybody who linked their Twitch and Rockstar Games Social Club accounts by Sunday, September 8th, 2019 will receive the Bounty Hunter License free of charge. Anybody who missed the deadline can still get involved, by linking their accounts ASAP and receiving the License for free within 72 hours of doing so.
There's also a bonus for those who took the time to hunt down all 54 hidden playing cards in Grand Theft Auto Online: they can now claim the Collector's Bag free of charge through October 14th, 2019.
