The end of August not only ushered in a new season, but saw EPOS reveal a pair of brand new gaming headsets as part of their EPOS | Sennheiser 600 series. Delivering a brand new look to their now-legendary pieces, these wired, closed acoustic gaming headsets are perfect for those who want a unique yet premium experience.

The original features that helped make such a success of the GSP 600 are replicated with the 601 and 602, with added ergonomic leatherette earpads and adjustable pressure to ensure a true-to-life envelopment within the environments being presented in whatever game you may be playing. If you, like me, are forced to play your games in a noisy environment, even then you'll be able to be transformed to all sorts of fantastical worlds with the help of these headsets.

Both the GSP 601 and 602 come with an interchangeable one or two-prong 3.5mm cable that allows connection not only to your PC and Mac, but to PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and all other consoles and devices with a 3.5mm jack input.

EPOS gaming headsets have in the past been designed to replicate natural audio, and that's clearly something they've stuck to with this new release. The audio I experienced throughout my use was incredibly well-balanced; it's not boosting the bass simply to impress, but instead making it realistic and avoiding the masking of other audio elements in higher frequencies.

It's this attention to detail that makes the GSP series one of the best. A lapse in concentration during a game can mean the difference between winning and losing, but with the 601 and 602 you'd be hard-pressed to get distracted from your total immersion. The phrase "cutting-edge" can be overused when it comes to discussing headsets, but it's an adjective that's totally appropriate here.

As for the microphone? Each of my friends have assured me that I've never sounded better. Not only that, but they no longer hear my intense typing on my mechanical keyboard whenever I'm writing out one of these articles - win win!

When it comes to the look, it's obvious that the 601 and 602 have been designed with streamers in mind. You'll look better than ever with either the cool black accents or copper-coloured side plates pressing up against your head whilst you chat with your audience.

The only problem I've had so far is through my own stupidity - I didn't press the cable into the headset firmly enough and wondered why my sound was so silent! So, make sure you've done that if you feel your audio should be louder!

With no software to download and nothing to fiddle with, these plug-and-play gaming headsets are something I can hand-on-heart, happily recommend.

The EPOS I SENNHEISER GSP 601 and GSP 602 are now available on eposaudio.com/gaming at a suggested retail price of £199.
