The H3 Hybrid series has a new addition

The EPOS H3 series has expanded once more, with a wireless headset that aims to take a premium gaming experience to yet another elevated level. Just how does the latest offering stack up though and, is it worth the £239 price tag? Here, we delve into some of the new features and make a judgement call. After downloading the free EPOS Gaming Suite, which allows gamers to customise their audio settings to fit specific, desired needs at any one time, we jumped in.

Designed for "the most demanding gamer", this high-quality headset offers lag-free wired gaming options but also, low-latency wireless for those times when you may be thrashing around either in excitement following a huge victory, or upset after a tragic defeat.

With a high amount of passive noise cancellation, there's now also the option to use Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), which is effective at low frequencies such as when you can hear humming or buzzing; and on the go. It’s a fantastic new addition, especially alongside the Bluetooth support that means you can connect to more than one device simultaneously.

Alongside the 5.2 Bluetooth connection, there is also the option to use a low-latency USB dongle or, if you don't mind wiring up, a 3.5mm jack.

The ANC allows for a gaming experience unlike any I have enjoyed in the past. It allowed me to keep a firm focus on everything I was doing, enveloping me in the fantasy worlds that I was embedding myself within. Combining this with the super-high quality of sound makes for some truly stellar gaming sessions.

When it comes to my multiplayer interactions, there weren’t many problems to report. A few friends did note that the microphone quality over Discord had dipped when compared to the previous headset I was using – the EPOS H6PRO closed acoustic wired headset – but it would appear that this was only a problem in Discord. In various game chats and, in Xbox Parties, I didn’t have any complaints.

One of my favourite games to play with the headset was Horizon Forbidden West. I could hear every small blast of wind and shriek of a potentially deadly machine as I travelled through some of the most stunning landscapes ever created. This headset was created for gamers who want to enjoy an elevated gaming experience and, in this regard, EPOS have ticked all the right boxes.

As for the look and feel? It's comfortable during super long sessions, light on the head and never feels flimsy or as though it could break. It's a luxury product, which is what you would expect from the premium price point.

In today’s world, with the cost-of-living crisis and not a lot of disposable income for many people, £239 is a lot of money. If you’ve got the cash to splash, then you cannot go wrong here. If not, you may want to opt for a cheaper headset and get saving up for this one. It’s worth the money, but only if you can afford it.

The H3PRO Hybrid Closed Acoustic Wireless Gaming Headset is available now in Sebring Black, Ghost White and Racing Green for £239.
