The 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story' star has signed on the upcoming movie, which is based on the 2012 action-adventure video game of the same name.
The movie is expected to follow an undercover police officer, played by Yen, who is tasked with fighting the Triads - Chinese criminal organisations.
And the cop will have to face his own challenges whilst racing, fighting and shooting his enemies.
Original Film and DJ2 Entertainment are producing alongside Neal Moritz, Dmitri Johnson and Dan Jevons whilst Toby Ascher and Stephan Bugaj will serve as executive producers, Deadline reports.
'Sleeping Dogs' proved popular when it was released in 2012 for PlayStation 3, Windows PC and Xbox 360 whilst a "definitive edition" was unveiled for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One around two years later.
Developer United Front Games began work on a spin-off called 'Triad Wars' but it was cancelled in 2015 and then United Front shut down a year later.
Meanwhile, the 53-year-old actor previously explained why he considers martial arts choreography to be similar to music compositions.
He explained: "A lot of people ask me, 'How do you engrave your personal style in every film?' By being in the film. Actions, particularly action, it comes natural.
"I'll probably take the choreography and blend it. It's the way you deliver. It's like music, someone can compose a certain piece of composition, but it's the musician that's going to play it out."
