The ‘Helldivers 2’ director has responded to player complaints about recent updates
The popular game was released on February 8, and has since seen several updates which have reduced weapon capabilities leaving fans disgruntled. Players have given harsh feedback in response to these changes which has led to a discussion amongst the team at developer Arrowhead Game Studios.
One player spoke out on X by saying: “Helldivers has just become un-fun for me and a lot of my friends, I've put insane hours, (rank 80), I don't know what to say these past months of balancing changes has made the game basically unplayable for me, sad to see balance changes come over the priority of fun.”
Director Johan Pilestedt responded on the platform: “Hey, yeah i think we've gone too far in some areas. Will talk to the team about the approach to balance. It feels like every time someone finds something fun, the fun is removed.”
The changes in question concern the balancing patches which, when put in place, decrease the effectiveness of weapons in order to enhance the challenge aspect of the game.
One specific example includes last week’s patch 01.000.300, which increased the recharge time for the LAS-99 Quasar Cannon which occurred amongst some positive changes for other weapons. This change irritated some players.
Gamers have gone as far as to say that some of these updates make weapons entirely unusable while some have mentioned that they never see consistently downgraded weapons such as the RS-422 Railgun in matches.
