Recently, popular video game Dead by Daylight has announced its arrival on the Epic Games Store in December this year (2021), and has also unveiled the details of its exciting new chapter.
Portrait of a Murder is an artistic ode to terror, darkness and surrealism which is set in a realistic version of an abandoned graveyard in the Chilean desert. The DLC (downloadable content) will be available this month (November, 2021) and introduces two Latin American newcomers, including the game’s first Mexican American character.
Dave Richard, Creative Director of the game, has said that “Portrait of a Murder is Dead by Daylight going back to its roots: an original story and universe, set in mystery, dark fantasy and fear.
“The new characters”, continues Richard, “are also unique and diverse, which is part of our DNA, and representative of our playerbase.”
Dead by Daylight’s upcoming DLC is a wholly original chapter which includes a Killer, a Survivor, and a brand-new map. The new killer is The Artist, a gifted yet tormented Chilean painter named Carmina Mora.
Mora was very close to taking her own life just before an odd murder of crows; the unbelievable experience changed her jet-black ink surrealist art into a bolder and more colourful expression.
She then began to paint large-scale militant murals on street corners, exposing the local corruption. Wherever she performed, crows would follow. Death threats came to Mora after she shed more light on corruption; she was then abducted and brought to a graveyard in the middle of the desert.
With her wrists severed, her tongue cut off, a hoard of crows erupted from the clouds once again. After this hideous event, Mora was taken by The Entity and became a harrowing vessel of vengeance...
On the other hand, players who prefer to roam the Entity’s realm with the eyes of the Survivor will be excited to play as Jonah Vasquez, the first Mexican American character to enter the game.
Vasquez is a seasoned CIA codebreaker who has the ability to decipher math problems and the secrets within. As he reflects on a ground-breaking discovery, crows wake from the trees; it was as if they knew it was time.
After joining most online stores over the past five years, it is now time for Dead by Daylight to be offered within the Epic Games Store catalogue. Coming this December (2021), all content related to this popular game will be accessible; this includes the base game, all past editions as well as any DLCs that are available at the time of release.
Fans will also be thrilled to learn that the Epic Games Store will allow cross-platform play as well as cross-platform progression between Steam, Stadia and Epic via their Behaviour account.
The new DLC, Portrait of a Murder, will be available in November for $6.99 on the Microsoft Store, Steam as well as Stadia, and $7.99 via Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available through the Epic Games Store once the game is released on that particular platform.
