Michael Fassbender is not a fan of video games.
The 39-year-old actor is currently promoting his upcoming film 'Assassin's Creed', an action thriller based on the Ubisoft stealth video game series of the same name.
However, he admits it's been 16 years since he was really into gaming, and now he just doesn't have the time to devote to virtual experiences.
In an interview with Esquire magazine, Fassbender said: "The last time I had a serious stint with video games was 2000. There was a period of time where I was working in this warehouse at night. I would come home in the morning and just sit down in front of this racing game - I can't even remember the name of it - and play it over and over."
Although the film is inspired by the Ubisoft games the storyline and main character Callum Lynch, played by the 'Steve Jobs' star, were specially created for the movie.
The 'Assassin's Creed' game storyline is driven by the Aminus a machine that allows people in the present to relive the memories of their ancestors.
Callum Lynch is of significant interest to the mysterious Abstergo Industries in the plot because of his genetic connection to 15th Century ancestor Aguilar.
The story will see Callum discover he is a descendant of the secret Assassins Society when he delves into his past and he must learn the skills of a killer to fight the Templars - historic enemies of the Assassins Society - in the modern world.
Ubisoft Entertainment and 20th Century Fox have teamed up for the movie adaptation, which is expected to hit cinemas on January 6, 2017.
Production started back in August, with filming locations including Malta, London and Spain.
The two leads are the Oscar-nominated Fassbender and Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard, whilst Justin Kurzel directs.
