Coming in at 330lbs and sized at 47" x 23" x 29" (inches), the AndaSeat Mask 2 is undoubtedly a sturdy and reliant gaming desk from a company that has put out some of the best game room accessories on the market, of course leading with their chairs, such as the T-Pro 2 Series that we reviewed earlier this year.
With an RRP that is on the higher end of a lot of budgets however, is this piece of kit worth picking up or, are there alternates on the market that would do just a good as job?
It’s a bit of a mixed bag! The design of the desk is one that instantly stands out. The sleek black carbon fibre texture tabletop is frankly a gorgeous attraction, catching the eye right away and, providing a surface that your mouse can glide over without you splurging more cash on a mat, as it’s both skid-proof and wear-resistant.
Coupling that with the RGB LED lights that appear on either side of the table makes for a desk that really looks the part; although it was a touch fiddly to build. The AndaSeat instructions are about as basic as they come. There were a couple of occasions when I had to deconstruct the part of the desk I had already built and at one point, one of the light connectors actually detached from its base, leading to some spur-of-the-moment tweezering that took me right back to my high school electronics class.
Still, it was an experience that I’ll remember. I’d have preferred an easier one but, it wasn’t the end of the world. All parts were numbered and so, even without detailed diagrams and complex instructions, there is an order to follow. AndaSeat even include a screwdriver and set of Allen keys in the box, so you’re good to go.
There are your standard holes for running cables through on either top corner of the desk, taking up minimal space and instead allowing you the bulk of the tabletop for whatever you may be using. In my case, a work laptop and gaming laptop, along with notebook and pen, diffuser and even a fully-built LEGO Stranger Things set can all sit alongside one another, with room to spare. Not your conventional gaming set-up by any means, but one that I’m more than happy with.
Additional accessories include a cup holder, which can be applied to either the front left or front right of the desk, as well as a hanger for your headphones and, a plastic box that goes at the back of and under the desk, providing the perfect place to put all of the junk I usually keep on top of my desk, away from sight and out of mind. Again, not the conventional way of doing things but, it works for me!
I’m not sure I would splash out full retail price for this desk (£300), but with the deals that are often on offer from AndaSeat, if you can pick it up for a reduced price, it’s well worth the purchase.
AndaSeat are set to enjoy some awesome Black Friday deals, which you can check out here.
