ADX recently pledged to reduce plastic waste, with their mission "to bring customers amazing PC gaming accessories without harming the planet."
They say: "We've already removed plastic print finishes and reduced 70,000 plastic bags, 50,000 cable ties and 20,000 plastic hooks across the range."
With that being said, we couldn't wait to check out the ADX Race19 Gaming Chair, available from Currys for £150 including VAT. When you’re sinking three figures on a piece of kit, you want to know whether or not it’s worth those hard-earned pennies, so we put it to the test, right from point of initial construction to spending a few hours sat playing some Call of Duty!
Putting together a gaming chair from scratch sounds like a huge challenge, and when you see all of the different bits and pieces that you’ll have to use it can be a little overwhelming. Pair up with a friend though, and all of those concerns should melt away as you blast through the instruction booklet. It took us a little under an hour to get from start to finish, without any problems getting in the way.
It is important however, to have somebody help you when you’re constructing your chair. It could be extremely difficult to align all of the different pieces of the chair’s body before screwing them together when on your own, as they can be quite slippery.
Keeping in mind the commitment to reduce plastic usage, it was great to see the reduction in the amount of usual plastic packaging included. Yes, there is more that can be done, and being completely plastic-free in packaging would be the ultimate goal, but it’s good to see ADX starting somewhere. Let’s hope their pledge continues to evolve and change as they move forward.
So, how does the chair stand up when it’s ready to go? The first thing you’ll notice is just how slick it looks. It should go perfectly in any gaming room, adding a touch of flair with its black and orange colour. What’s really important though, is how the chair feels, moves and adapts to each gamer’s specific body type and style of play.
Comfort is essential, and ADX have smashed it out of the park with this chair. There are two movable pillows as well as the option to recline the chair up to around 50 degrees, and the rotating arm rests are perfect for whichever position you choose to take. The quality of material is high, and the chair itself is very easy to wipe down – it’s important to keep your gaming chair clean!
If you’re a casual gamer, then this is the perfect chair for you. If you’re a hardcore gamer, it’s also definitely worth a try! The rotating base means you can move quickly, allowing for intense gameplay and quick, reflexive reaction time.
