4 things to keep in mind when gaming on the go
Mobile gaming has enjoyed a resurgence in recent years in the decade following the heyday of the Nintendo DS and the PSP and PS Vita, with the Nintendo Switch and mobile devices making mobile gaming cool again. Whether you spend your time catching pokemon, slaying beats, or just like to have a pocket casino on you to help keep you entertained, we’re sure that you’ll find this article interesting!
Let yourself become immersed
Headphones are a hugely underrated aspect of gaming on the go because they really allow you to become fully immersed within the game and this seems to correlate with you performing better. Obviously, you should still be aware of your surroundings so make sure to stay safe when you're walking around. If you can find a nice quiet spot on a train or on a plane it can really help to improve the overall gaming experience and make it a lot more fun.
Another option, which is becoming more popular of late, is to implement virtual reality or augmented reality hardware into your gaming experience. These headsets can allow you to really place yourself within the game’s world and you can become more invested in the story. This is because these headsets can make you feel as though you are a real part of this world. As long as you make sure you're in a safe spot, we don't see why you shouldn't try it.
Don’t forget anything you might need
There’s nothing worse than getting on the bus/plane/train and realising that you’ve forgotten all of the things you need to game when on the move. Back in the day many of us used to have a dedicated case that contained our device, games, spare memory cards, and a charger. Those days are largely gone now because we are able to store our games on our devices without needing to bring individual game cartridges in their special cases.
While this is super convenient, it does mean that it can be easier to forget stuff because everything isn’t stored in the same place anymore. If you're a Nintendo Switch gamer you should make sure that you have a charging cable, a plug adapter, a spare memory card, and game cartridges for any games that you haven't got downloaded to your device. It is also a good idea to bring alcohol-infused wipes so that you can give your screen a clean.
Remember to check out cloud gaming
Cloud gaming is a concept that has absolutely exploded in popularity in the past year thanks to the huge developments made by the gaming giants. Microsoft seems to be making the biggest waves at the moment with their Ultimate Game Pass allowing Xbox players to play cloud compatible games for free. This means that you can then pick up where you left off when you log into your Microsoft gaming account on a compatible mobile device or laptop.
With regards to mobile gaming, cloud gaming is an absolute game-changer because you are essentially streaming the game just like you do with a Netflix or Amazon Prime show. Mobile devices are notoriously terrible when it comes to storage space and so this means that you can play your favourite games without having to delete dozens of your favourite photos. Cloud gaming really does look like the future of gaming and we can't wait. It’s so cool!
Having enough charge is vital
Remembering your charger is absolutely key if you want to game on the go, but what might be more important for you is having a portable charger that will allow you to stay juiced up even when on the go. These portable chargers are especially useful when you're in more isolated areas when you can’t always access a plug socket. Being on an older train without a charger can be an absolute nightmare, but if you have a portable charger then it’s no issue.
Likewise, even if you can find a plug socket, like at an airport, for example, these spots are often inconveniently located with there either being nowhere to sit or no space because they’re few and far between. All of this can be avoided if you remember to bring a fully charged up portable battery pack with you. You’ll be free to go and find a comfy seat away from all the business and let yourself have fun. It’s a no brainer in our opinion.
