With Christmas just around the corner we’re all getting excited about our annual roast dinner. All over the world diets go out of the window for a day - or two – as many people get more excited about the thought of a Christmas roast than their presents!
A Sunday roast used to be tradition for most people but rangecookers.co.uk have revealed that despite their perceived popularity, just one in six families enjoy a roast dinner on a weekly basis. These days it seems the only day families sit down to enjoy a roast together is on Christmas day.
According to the survey by rangecookers.co.uk 44 per cent of people now believe that they have moved on from the traditional family roast and no longer see it as an important part of modern life. Thankfully only 21 per cent of those who answered said they didn’t like a roast dinner so all hope isn’t lost. But really though, who doesn’t like roast dinners?!
Andrew Longfield, director of rangecookers.co.uk said: “Sunday Roasts used to be a staple part of most families’ weeks. Now though, it seems that this is on the decline as the pace of modern life takes over. Most of us are busy all week so take the opportunity to relax at weekends, which means that preparing a full on roast dinner isn’t often top of our list of priorities.”
He added: “It’s a bit of a shame though as sitting down together for a meal at least once a week is often a good method of family bonding, giving us the opportunity to take a break from the wider world.”
It’s sad to know that roast dinners are slowly dying but at least people still make the effort on Christmas day. It’s hard to imagine Christmas without mum’s roasties and a few pigs in blanket, we know we can’t wait to stuff our faces anyway!
