Makes: 8
Ingredients:
- 500g lean pork mince
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 small apple, cored and grated
- 1 small egg, beaten
- 40g breadcrumbs (approximately 1 slice)
- 1 tbsp. chopped fresh sage or 1 tsp. dried sage
- Salt & pepper
- Oil for frying
- 1 large apple
- 8 Applewood® slices
- 8 soft burger buns
Method:
- In a bowl combine the pork mince, onion, breadcrumbs, and sage and season well.
- Over the sink, squeeze the juice from the grated apple, then add to the bowl.
- Using a fork, mix the ingredients together before adding the beaten egg.
- When thoroughly combined divide into 8 burgers, cover and chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Core and slice the large apple into 8 even rings.
- Heat the griddle and chargrill the apple rings until softened.
- Heat the oil in a large pan and fry the burgers until cooked thoroughly.
- Place the burger in the bun, top with cheese and the warm apple ring to serve.
For a healthy appleslaw make a dressing by combining fat free Greek yoghurt and lemon juice, then season to taste. Mix with finely shredded white cabbage, thinly sliced apple, grated carrot and sliced spring onions.
