Gluten Free Goddess

Gluten Free Goddess

I began sharing my original gluten-free recipes at Gluten-Free Goddess®, a food and recipe blog, in late fall of 2005. My intent was to encourage families who also needed to live gluten-free (due to celiac disease, gluten sensitivity, wheat allergy, etc.). Because it's not easy. It feels like a restriction- at first. I wanted to show that eating gluten-free can be more than just doable. It can be delicious. Even fabulous. So I spent a lot of time developing recipes and photographing them in an appealing way. My goal was to inspire.

I began sharing my original recipes at Gluten-Free Goddess® in late fall of 2005. There are over 400 original gluten-free recipes now on the Gluten-Free Goddess® food blog. Like so many readers I have discovered the convenience of bringing my iPad into the kitchen to cook. It is wonderful to have an entire blog available- right at my fingertips.

Looking over my recipe index I began to imagine an iPad eBook cookbook- a collection of recipe favourites from Gluten-Free Goddess®- the recipes I turn to, again and again. And the first Gluten-Free Goddess® iPad cookbook was born. A bright, concise, beautiful presentation of my favourite "Top 45" gluten-free recipes- a mix of 21 savoury recipes, and 24 sweet recipes.

Included are my best gluten-free Pizza Crust recipe, our favourite Delicious Gluten-Free Bread and Whole Grain Bread, Skillet Cornbread with Green Chiles, Multi-Grain Dinner Rolls, Irish-American Soda Bread, and Whole Grain Olive Bread.

You'll find appetizers-- from Nutty Multigrain Crackers to Fried Zucchini Chips with dip-- and family favourites-- Kicked Up Mac n Cheese, Grilled Vegetable Pasta Salad, Quinoa Salad with Maple Vinaigrette, Zucchini Gratin and Sweet Potato Black Bean Enchiladas- and more. Lighter fare-- my reader's favourite Creamy Detox Soup, Quinoa Taco Salad, and Coconut Corn Chowder with Lime.

Breakfast and sweet recipes include Sunday Morning Pancakes, Peach Coffee Cake, Orange Kissed Almond Muffins, Spotted Dog, Blueberry Almond Muffins, Quinoa Breakfast Bars, Zucchini Bread, Iced Pumpkin Scones, Dark Chocolate Brownies, Chocolate Chip Cookies, Raspberry Coconut Almond Bars, Pumpkin Praline Pie, Flourless Dark Chocolate Cake, Coconut Layer Cake, pumpkin, vanilla, and chocolate cupcakes, and more.

I didn't plan on becoming a brand, or a persona. I had no strategy. I just did my thing. I called my blog Gluten-Free Goddess because I had written a sweet little paperback cookbook years ago (now out of print) called Recipes from a Vegetarian Goddess.

What I did think about was how publishing was changing. And how I was buying fewer and fewer mainstream cookbooks, turning, instead, to food blogs- and the Internet- for cooking inspiration. When I received an iPad for Christmas, I started using it in the kitchen immediately. I loved the instant access to all my Gluten-Free Goddess recipes. Seeing them with the original photography. I thought readers might feel the same way.

The Gluten-Free Goddess eBook is a complement to the blog. I see it as a take-away- something more intimate and manageable than the interactive live blog with all its posts, and comments, and social media. It's a piece of the blog. A menu of favourites. A taste.

I hope to create more eBook cookbooks- with a theme, or particular slant. It might be a seasonal approach, or a focus, such as cookie recipes, or muffins and scones. There are endless possibilities as I continue developing recipes.
