Ice-cream maker takes to Pinterest to find new flavour

Simply Ice Cream, a Kent-based ice cream producer, have teamed up with Lec, the refrigeration specialist, for the novel idea to help celebrate Lec's 70th birthday.

The competition consists of 70 ingredients hosted on Lec's Pinterest, and participants must pick four flavours to make a combination flavour. The ingredients range from the predictable (chocolate, vanilla, strawberry), to the slightly unusual (tea, chili, Christmas pudding), to the downright insane (cheese on toast, sushi and grass).

The ingredients have to be pinned to a Pinterest board, and a link must be tweeted, using the hashtag #LecIceCream.

If you fancy yourself as a bit of an ice-cream chef, you could win a year’s supply of ice cream, a Lec fridge freezer of your choice, as well as tickets to BBC Good Food Show Winter. What's more, you'll also get to go to Simply Ice Cream’s HQ to see how the cream is made.

Jane Rylands, Marketing Communications Manager for Lec, said: “With Lec celebrating such a landmark year it seemed only fitting that we created a birthday party essential in honour of the occasion – a brand new ice cream flavour created and chosen by our online community.

“Both food and ice cream trends have changed considerably over the past 70 years so we have given the UK public an eclectic mix of flavours and ingredients to choose from".

The competition is open until Friday 7th September.
