Hello everyone
Merry Christmas! I hope you all have had a lovely Christmas and managed to get some rest and recovery over the Christmas period along with eating some great food! I love Christmas mainly because it means I get to travel all the way North and spend some quality time with my family which doesn't happen too often. My mum as usual was very organised and had prepared a wondering Christmas dinner which was all gluten and dairy free so I didn't feel left out.
I made a few cakes including this amazing fruit cake, which I made because i know it is one of my grandparents favourites and as they make their way into their late 80's there is nothing better than seeing a smile on their faces at Christmas. Please check out my recipe here and have a go it's mainly fruit which goes into this cake and it really is delicious. It is perfect for those times around the TV with a nice cup of tea or coffee!

Restaurant Hangout of the Week
My hangout of the week is in Skipton in North Yorkshire at The Tempest Arms in a small village called Elslack. I hadn't been before but when we called and informed them about what I couldn't eat they were so helpful and i felt really confident. We were a large party so we did have a set menu but they had made such an effort to incorporate choices which were gluten free and dairy free with no ingredients taken out so i felt included.
For starter I had prawns and smoked salmon and for main course a lovely piece of seabass with asparagus and they bought over a huge bowl of boiled vegetables. Pudding was fab they made me a meringue with fresh fruit on top, absolutely delicious.
The staff were very helpful and very careful with the food they put on the table telling me what i could and couldn't have when they placed it down. Would highly recommend a visit, as always just inform them of your intolerances prior to arrival.
Top Tip of the Week
When cooking i tend to be very particular of which oils I use and I always make sure they are organic because you can digest them a lot easier. For general cooking I love using organic rapeseed or avocado oil and for a sweet breakfast or pudding I always stick with organic Virgin coconut oil! Give it a try you won't be disappointed.
Wishing you all a wonderful New Year and will be back for my first 2016 column next week.
