Hello, everyone!
I don't know about you, but my gym routine has stepped up a notch since January. I have always been into the gym and exercising, however, I really need to have exciting classes to attend to keep me motivated and get the maximum out of me. So every week I always try and do two muscle strength classes, usually body pump, this is really good for toning and also weight loss.
Many think that cardio helps you lose weight but weight sessions are just as good if not even better. I usually back to back my weight classes with a cardio, step or attack are my favourites and then for a relaxation afterwards I like to do a good stretch in yoga. This week I found a new class called 'clubbercise'... yes it is aerobics in the dark, with glow sticks, to cheesy music. It might not be everyone's cup of team but I absolutely loved it!
I always like to be very chic in the gym, I really feel that dressing nicely in the gym, makes you feel really good and for me it motivates me even more, I feel good, look good and makes me want to work out harder. I really am a fan of Sweaty Betty clothing for the gym, although fairly pricey, it is long lasting which you need in gym clothes and it washes really well. I really am a fan of the irreversible leggings; the clothing is quite expensive so great that you get two in one!
This week I have made a few batches of my raw brownie bites, I sometimes add in a few tablespoons of almond butter and coat them in coconut flakes for that extra bit of protein, find the recipe here: http://blog.biteappy.com/blog/paleo-raw-brownie-bites/
Restaurant Hangout of the Week
I couldn't contain my excitement when I heard The Breakfast Club would be opening in Brighton. I usually go to the ones in London, it's great as you can have a hearty or healthy breakfast depending on your mood and they have full allergen menus plus orders are taken by supervisors too to make it extra safe. The menu will have your mouth watering, a delicious choice of smoothies, either fruit, vegetable or mixed so something for everyone, the food all looks lovely, more American diner style which is a bit scary but there are some options on there for gluten free there is the super food salad but they will also adapt things on the menu, so I decided to have the 'Green is Good' smoothie and the 'When Haloumi Met Salad Wrap', gluten free style so without the wrap.
When it arrived I was so excited it looked so delicious, I couldn't wait to get started and I wasn't disappointed with the flavours and the way it was all cooked and presented. The smoothie was like drinking goodness, a mixture of mango, spinach, mint and apple, so refreshing yet thick and filling at the same time, I really loved this smoothie. The salad had so many flavours, the raw slaw with the sun blush tomatoes, fresh spinach leaves and halloumi all complimented each other so well and made the perfect dish topped with the balsamic glaze too!
Top tip of the Week
If you like sweet smoothies but want them to be healthy, my top tip is to use raw cacao powder and dates to sweeten it.
Until next time.
