So I can't believe it is nearly the first day of Spring, time is flying past this year. It is the time of year where the weather starts warming up, the layers start coming off and we can change our clothes to more lightweight tees and jeans. It almost starts to become a nice time of year to exercise outside, so take advantage of the next coming months.
I love Spring, not only for the weather but also because I get out of more hot foods and start to move towards some lovely fresh salads. I absolutely love salads and also have done, however they have to be exciting otherwise I get really bored and disappointed. One of my favourite salads for spring is my strawberry and macadamia nut salad, which is you are meat eater you can add chicken too.
When I first made this salad, I made it for my some friends and nobody wanted to touch it, it was the fruit in the salad that people were a little afraid of, but with my persuasive behaviour of convincing everyone to try something different, it was a huge hit, In fact, they couldn't get enough of it and what I thought I would be taking to lunch the next day I actually had to make something else. http://blog.biteappy.com/blog/strawberry-macadamia-salad/
Restaurant Hangout of the Week
The Eagle is a pub located in the North Laines, in the heart of Brighton; I headed to this pub with my developers for a team lunch, which was great. When we walked in I was given a menu, clearly labelled was an allergen key on the top right of the menu, and the corresponding symbols were next to each dish. They will however make changes to certain dishes if you require this. There are many choices on menu, a lot can be adapted as well, I have been told by my doctors recently that I need to try introduce lactose slowly back into my diet, so every now and again I have something with a small amount of lactose in to see how my body gets on.
Therefore, I decided to have a salad with a little bit of Halloumi in it. It was really delicious, was loaded with lettuce, asparagus, roasted tomatoes and mango dressing which really complimented each other. I would highly recommend a visit to this pub as it is not only in the heart of the famous Laines in Brighton but it also serves great food.
Top Tip of the Week
Instead of using a diary free butter to cook with you can substitute with coconut oil, this improves digestion and immunity against a number of infections and diseases, whilst also being a great nutrient for your hair and skin.
