King’s Cross Ice Cream Festival is set to show off the best ice-creams London can offer, as well as celebrating the history of ice cream in the region.
The event will be fun for the family, as kids and parents alike will be able to try their hand at milking a cow in the petting zoo, check out some ice-cream art, as well as making ice cream using futuristic nitrogen technologies.
Guests will also be able to try a taste of true ice-cream history, as the 'penny lick' will be back in London, in homage to Carlo Gatti, the man who first brought ice cream to England in 1851, where he sold gelato for one penny, coining the phrase.
As well as being an educational day out, children will be particularly pleased to hear that it's not all about learning - it's also about trying some of the best ice-creams in the country!
Proudly displaying their finest confections will be Gelatorino of Covent Garden, who will show the secrets of traditional gelato making, and the experimental nitrogen ice-cream specialist Mad Cap Charlie. The Shepherds of Herefordshire will also bring their award winning ice cream made from sheep’s milk.
Anna Strongman from King’s Cross said: "The history of ice-cream in King’s Cross is fascinating and we are delighted to be producing our first Ice Cream Festival to celebrate it."
The free event in King’s Cross, Granary Square will run from 11am to 6pm on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd September.
