Dewar’s Christmas Cocktails

Dewar’s Christmas Cocktails

With the Christmas festivities almost upon us, there’s no better way to celebrate with friends and loved ones than with a deliciously crisp cocktail that brings all the flavours of the festive season together in a single sip.

Whilst whisky may have traditionally been the tipple of choice for granddad at Christmas, the nation is experiencing a whisky revival and the party season is the perfect time to revisit this luxurious spirit with its distinguished British heritage.

Here’s what you’ll need and how to make these delicious cocktails!

I’m Dreaming of Darjeeling

A cocktail to set off the Christmas party season. The honey and heather in Dewar’s 12 match the tea’s tannins in this elegant drink.

Ingredients:

•             2 parts Dewar’s 12 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky

•             2 ½ parts chilled Darjeeling tea

•             2/3 part heather honey syrup

Stir the ingredients together in a large glass with a generous serving of ice and garnish with some festive cranberries.

Christmas in Manhattan

Sophistic and simple, Christmas in Manhattan is a festive  twist on one of the finest and oldest  cocktails in the world.

Ingredients:

•             ¾ parts sweet vermouth

•             2 ½ parts Dewar’s 12 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky

•             1 dash Angostura bitters

•             1 Maraschino cherry

•             1 twist of orange peel

Combine the Vermouth, Dewar’s 12 Year Old and Bitters with 2-3 ice cubes in a mixing glass and stir gently. Place the cherry in a chilled cocktail glass and strain the whisky mixture over the cherry. Rub the cut edge of the orange peel over the rim of the glass and twist it over the drink to release the oils.

Holly Leaf

Perfect for a post-Christmas dinner, cleansing drink when you are feeling just a little bit bloated from too much turkey.

Ingredients:

•             1 part Dewar’s 12 Year old Blended Scotch Whisky

•             Green tea

Fill a glass with ice, pour 1 part Dewar’s 12 Year Old and top with Green tea.
