With the news that Will Smith's latest action movie Gemini Man has been a commercial flop, we realised that we were starting to see a pattern when it came to his film history; particularly within the last 10 years or so. Here are seven films more terrible than Gemini Man:

Wild Wild West (1999)

We can't argue that this movie isn't visually stunning, but it's startlingly lacking in depth (yes, depth is still important in comedy!). It's also rarely funny, which makes it a pretty pointless 1 hour 45 minutes. It's just one of those movies where more effort has gone into spending the budget than developing the script which is a dramatic shame.

After Earth (2013)

M. Night Shyamalan is responsible for some incredible movie moments; unfortunately, After Earth isn't one of them. The whole Will Smith and Jaden Smith father/son thing was cute when it was The Pursuit of Happyness, but Jaden just doesn't match up to his father when it comes to onscreen talent. It's boring, generic and shamelessly cliched.

Collateral Beauty (2016)

For a movie with such an amazing cast (Edward Norton, Kate Winslet, Helen Mirren), Collateral Beauty was a terrible disappointment. It could've been a touching message about grief but it strays too far into the far-fetched to be relatable, and too often slips into cynical and shallow territory. It's difficult to really see what the point is in this movie.

Shark Tale (2004)

It's true I was a little older than the target audience when this came out, but as trashy DreamWorks animations go, this tops them all. It's far too full of pop culture references that few kids would understand or appreciate. It's fun enough, but a little on the thin side when you compare it to more iconic DreamWorks pictures like Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon. Kids can appreciate more than just a 2D plot after all.

Suicide Squad (2016)

It's certainly not Will Smith's fault that this DC flop was so bad, but could it have been any better with more talented co-stars? In all honesty, maybe when it comes to Cara Delevingne and Jared Leto, but the characters were so underdeveloped that they had little to work with anyway. Of course it's important to have jaw-dropping action sequences and visual dynamism in a comic book film, but you kind of need a good story too.

Hancock (2008)

Will Smith's first foray into the superhero world was hardly a success either. The concept is interesting, being more of a parody of the superhero genre, but it just wasn't executed as well as it could've been. It's not the best example of succinct story-telling, and it's oddly lacking in humour where we expect it.

Seven Pounds (2008)

If a movie is so forgettable that one repeatedly forgets it even exists, that's a telling sign. It's morbid and bizarre to the point of irritating, and the twist at the end (if you can call it that) is unstimulating and predictable. It's not the worst, but it's getting there.
