We all lead busy lives, so much so that it feels that there are not enough hours in the day to complete what we set out to do. Many of us use our smartphones to help grab precious minutes back and we use them to carry out many tasks that would have eaten into our days.

Banking online and online shopping are now commonplace as is enjoying a few games with family and friends on our favourite trusted bingo sites. In fact, it might be surprising to many people that online bingo is now one of the most popular games played online, appealing not only to those who are used to the game but also to those that would never have considered entering a bingo hall.

Convenient and easy to play as well as being highly social has catapulted a game that was once considered to be the realm of the elderly female relative into the ‘cool’ bracket.

But just like anything else online bingo will eventually want some of your money, even though the bonuses and promotional offers buy an awful lot of bingo tickets. Understandably, a lot of us are worried about identity fraud, luckily there are some things that you can put into place that will ensure that any personal details you give to any site will remain confidential.

We all know those cold calls or emails asking for detailed information, remember, no one should be pressured into giving account details, PINs or passwords away so always remain sceptical.

Social media plays an important role in many people's daily lives but be vigilant and do not over share your personal information, especially that information that might help the criminal element guess at your password.

Remember to check your online bank and card statements on a regular basis – if you do happen to see something you are unsure of report it at once.

In order to make life hard for the potential fraudsters create strong passwords, those over eight letters long and use upper and lower case and a number or two. One of the worst things you can do is use something that has an obvious pattern, and never write down or share your PINs, your passwords or your account details.

One other tip, and perhaps one of the most important is that identity fraud doesn’t only happen online. Remember to destroy anything that might have your personal details included. Receipts, credit applications, any paper bank statements, and even credit offers should be destroyed in order to keep yourself safe. Investing in a paper shredder is a good idea as they are quick and efficient.
