As women, we should always empower other women. In the fight for gender equality we must first ensure that we are empowering each other – standing strong together as one permanent voice which cannot be ignored. When we learn to stand together and appreciate the different strengths of one another, the most amazing things will begin to happen. We will begin to get the best out of each other.
To help you on your way, here are five reasons why it’s essential for women to empower other women:
Empowerment is one of the greatest gifts you can give
Showing another woman that you think she has value can transform her life whilst at the same time empowering you. When you give and expect nothing in return, it activates the pleasure centres of the brain, releasing endorphins and bringing a source of positive energy to your life.
Networks of like-minded changemakers are powerful!
The greatest achievements of activist efforts, globally, have come from community and connection. It's time for all of us to get connected, reach out and lift each other. It can be as simple as a kind word spoken, helping others or just remembering to acknowledge the importance of the people you meet. The world does not need our help in creating more negativity.
Emotional support is key
Far too often we forget that everyone we meet may have a story deeper than the surface would suggest. No matter what your background is, no matter how rich or how poor you are, we are all dealing with something. It is vital to always have each others backs.
Honesty is the best policy
Honesty and empowerment go hand in hand. It can be used as a form of growth and by having an ‘open door’, women will feel they can trust each other and can be strong. They will be able to know what they have done right or wrong and make themselves a better person for it.
Lift those around you to strive for the stars
As women, we are seeking a world in which we want to be in positions of importance, across politics, science, education and business. Far too often I hear of women who have been brainwashed into thinking they are only good for two things – one being a mother and the other being a wife. This is where the frequently coined ‘glass ceiling’ is created. In truth, women naturally have the pragmatic traits to solve issues with compassion and honesty. As a result, we need to encourage each other to strive for the top positions as it really will be the women who save the world!
Sisterhood is the key to succeed and build stronger careers, if you don’t help your sisters you can’t expect to be helped. It’s vital to remember we don’t need to marry a man in order to elevate our social status, we have the power to create our own fortune.
United we are strong, united we will win!
