In our weekly feature on the ins and outs in women's sport, Arsenal are one victory away from winning the Women's Super League while Great Britain have returned to the Fed Cup World Group level.

Golf

Brooke Henderson has reached new heights as she secured her eighth LPGA Tour trophy with victory at the Lotte Championship.

The 21-year-old successfully defended her title in Hawaii as she carded a final-round two-under-par 70 to finish at 16-under, four shots ahead of Ji Eun-hee.

Henderson's eighth title means she is now level with former LPGA Tour star Sandra Post and PGA Tour players Mike Weir and George Knudson as the most successful Canadian golfers.

"It's really amazing to even be mentioned in the same sentence as Mike Weir, George, and Sandra," Henderson said.

"This week was really special. I always love coming to Hawaii. Last year was such an incredible week for me, to be able to hoist that trophy for the first time. Coming back I knew I knew the golf course really well and I have so many great memories pretty much on every hole, which is a great feeling."

Ariya Jutanugarn (73) and Minjee Lee (74) were tied for third at 11-under-par.

Football

The first leg of the UEFA Women's Champions League semi-final took place over the weekend and Chelsea have a foothold in their clash against holders Olympique Lyonnais.

French giants Lyon won the match, but Chelsea got an away goal as it ended 2-1 at the Groupama Stadium.

The five-times Champions League winners looked to be cruising towards a big win as Magdalena Eriksson's own goal and Amandine Henry's header gave the hosts a 2-0 lead inside the first half.

However, Erin Cuthbert's first-time volley in the 72nd minute gave Chelsea a crucial away goal.

Barcelona have the edge in the other semi-final as they won 0-1 away in Bayern Munich through a second-half goal from Kheira Hamraoui.

In the Women's Super League, it was a brilliant weekend for Arsenal as they put one hand firmly on the 2019 trophy with a 2-1 win over Everton.

Defender Louise Quinn and attacker Vivianne Miedema scored for the Gunners inside the first 30 minutes while Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah scored for the Merseysiders.

The result gives Arsenal a four-point lead over Manchester City in the standings and victory against Brighton will hand them the title.

In other results over the weekend, Liverpool Women hammered Bristol City 5-2 with Rinsola Babajide scoring a hat-trick, Reading beat Brighton 2-1 and Birmingham City were 2-1 winners over West Ham.

And here are your standings as we edge closer to the end of the season.

The Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Women's Player of the Year nominees were released last week and it is dominated by Manchester City with Steph Houghton, Nikita Parris and Keira Walsh all in the running.

Arsenal forward Vivianne Miedema and Chelsea duo Erin Cuthbert and Ji So-Yun make up the six-player list.

Miedema, Walsh and Cuthbert have also been nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award along with Man City forward Georgia Stanway, West Ham striker Alisha Lehmann and Bristol City goalkeeper Sophie Baggaley

Rugby

New Zealand's unbeaten start to the 2018–19 World Rugby Women's Sevens Series came to an abrupt end in Japan as Canada walked away with the Cup honours.

Having won the first three events of the series, NZ were expected to wipe all before them again in Japan, but they suffered a surprise 19-26 defeat to the United States in the quarter-finals.

The US were then beaten by Canada in the semi-finals and the Canadians ended up with the title as they edged out England 7-5 in the Cup final.

Amy Wilson-Hardy gave England a 5-0 lead, but Canada Ghislaine Landry scored deep into the second half and then converted her own try to give her side the victory.

Tennis

Then there were two! Australia and France will contest the 2019 Fed Cup final after the former beat Belarus while France held off Romania in the other semi-final.

The doubles decided both semis as Ashleigh Barty and Samantha Stosur's three-set win over Aryna Sabalenka and Victoria Azarenka in Brisbane helped Australia to reach the final for the first time since 1993.

It also went down to the wire in Rouen where Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic teamed up to beat Simona Halep and Monica Niculescu in three sets to give France a dramatic win over Romania.

Australia will host the final at a yet to be decided venue in November.

As for the World Group II playoffs, Great Britain have done it! Anne Keothavong's team beat Kazakhstan as GB reached the Fed Cup World Group for the first time in 26 years.

Johanna Konta won her singles rubbers against Zarina Diyas and Yulia Putintseva, but it was Katie Boulter who claimed the sweetest victory of all as her win over Diyas in the reverse singles gave Great Britain an unassailable 3-1 lead.
