The Supernovas won the Indian Women's T20 Challenge as they beat Velocity by four wickets in a thrilling final in Jaipur.

After last year's one-off women's T20 challenge proved to be a major success, organisers expanded it to three teams this year with the Trailblaizers the other side featuring in the event.

The round-robin stage was a tight affair as all three teams won one of their matches, but the Supernovas and Velocity were the ones to advance to the showpiece match due to their better net run-rate.

England were represented by Nat Sciver in the Supernovas team while Dani Wyatt played for Velocity.

Velocity were asked to bat first and they were restricted to 121 for six with Sushma Verma top-scoring with 40 while Lea Tahuhu returned the best bowling figures with two for 21.

Supernovas somehow managed to chase it down thanks to Harmanpreet Kaur's 51 from 37 balls, but Radha Yadav was the real shero as she hit the winning runs off the final ball.

Nearly 30,000 people watched the four matches in Jaipur with roughly 13,000 attending the final.

In International cricket, South Africa took on Pakistan in a three-match ODI series and the teams ended up sharing the trophy after the third game finished in a thrilling tie.

Pakistan won the opening match by eight wickets and South Africa hit back with an eight-wicket win themselves in the second game.

And so it came down to the third ODI in Benoni.

Having been asked to bat first, South Africa rode Sune Luus' 80 as well as half-centuries from Lizelle Lee and Laura Wolvaard to reach a solid 265 for six.

However, the chase was equally impressive with Javeria Khan (74) and Aliya Riaz (71) giving the innings the solid foundation and Nashra Sandhu hitting a six off the penultimate ball to make sure Pakistan got a share of the spoils.

Football

Women's Super League champions Arsenal finished their 2019 campaign on a high as they inflicted a first league defeat on Manchester City in the final game.

The Gunners wrapped up the title a few weeks ago, but they made sure City didn't finish the season unbeaten thanks to Emma Mitchell's late, late strike.

Mitchell scored two minutes before full-time.

And here is the FAWSL's tribute to the champions.

In other final-weekend results, Chelsea secured third place with a 3-2 win away to Reading, Liverpool beat Merseyside rivals Everton 3-1, Brighton hammered West Ham 4-0 away and Birmingham City secured a 2-0 at Yeovil.

Your final standings for 2019.

All eyes now turn to the Women's World Cup in France.

Golf

There were no LPGA or Ladies European Tour events over the weekend, but there was some news from PGA of America with regards to the 66th edition of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.

The 2020 tournament, the third major of the calendar year, will take from June 23-28 at Aronimink Golf Club in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania.

"We’re thrilled to bring a major golf championship to the sports-loving fans of Philadelphia and the surrounding region," Championship Director Jackie Endsley told LPGA.com.

"This Championship offers a wonderful way to spend a summer day with friends and family while watching some of the best women golfers in the world compete on one of golf's biggest stages."

Tennis

Madrid hosted the who's who of women's tennis the past week and it was Kiki Bertens who walked away with the honours as she not only denied Simona Halep the title, but also the world No 1 ranking.

Halep would have replaced Naomi Osaka at the top of the rankings had she won the Madrid Open, but Bertens was in no mood to hand out any favours as she won 6-4, 6-4 in one hour and 27 minutes.

The Madrid Open is Bertens' ninth WTA Tour singles trophy, but the biggest of her career as it is her first Premier Mandatory title while she also claimed to a career-best No 4 in the world rankings on the back of the result.
