It has divided friendship groups, families, communities, and political parties; just what should happen with Britain and the EU? You’ve probably found yourself in a heated debate on the topic at some point or other in the past couple of years.
The Brexit debate is not the best conversation topic at the dinner table
But as we get closer to the leave date, many of us will be hoping, praying, that it doesn’t get brought up over Christmas dinner this year.
But there are other conversations you can distract yourself with other than this almighty mood killer.

The World Cup
The England football team’s success in the World Cup in Russia had the whole country in high spirits and Gareth Southgate branded a hero.
The youthful squad made our Summer and then broke our hearts when they just missed out on making it to the final.
It was the first time since 1990 that England had reached the semi-finals, and although they didn’t beat Croatia in that crucial game, the nation were grateful for the best football we’d seen in years.
So instead of talking about something that divides us, be the person that brings up the topic that brings everyone together!
The birth of Prince Louis
The third and youngest child of Kate and Will was born on April 23 this year. As always when a royal baby is born, royalists and press waited patiently outside St Mary’s hospital for the announcement to be made of whether we had a new prince or princess.
Then, a couple of days later, we were told that a new baby boy had arrived; fifth in line to succession of the British throne.
Who doesn’t love a chinwag about babies? Especially royal ones!

Which leads us on perfectly to Meghan Markle’s fantastic news about her pregnancy! Whilst you’re awwing over pictures of little Louis, celebrate the near-arrival of the son or daughter of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The baby is expected in April 2019 and everyone is putting their bets on baby names. Why not swap the debate of leave or stay for what will be the baby name?

Although it’s not the most pleasant topic to discuss, we can all agree that we should be raising a glass for female empowerment and for the women who spoke out in the #MeToo movement finally being given the voice they deserve.
Repeal the eighth
Another topic which may split opinions, but essentially an event that celebrates women being able to make their own decisions about their own bodies, is a huge step forward in equality.
Surely we can all drink to women being able to choose what happens with their own body?
