July 1 celebrates the effective date of Canada's Constitution Act, 1867, and so every year, Canadians across the world celebrate Canada Day. As a federal statutory holiday, it not only allows reflection on the past, but a celebration of the present, and a look towards the future.

Renowned as one of the most pleasant places on Earth, with the most apologetic, kind and caring people, Canada is a country on the bucket list of places to visit for a lot of people. When it comes to making their mark on the world, Canadians are amongst those leading the charge. Here are seven of the planet's most famous Canadians who have already ensured they're leaving a legacy that'll last long after they're gone.

7. Ryan Reynolds

It's hard to know these days which Ryan Reynolds we prefer: the one on the big screen in huge roles such as Deadpool; or the one on social media who is absolutely hysterical! When celebrities don't take themselves too seriously, they became a heck of a lot more relatable, and that's exactly what we see with Reynolds. Following his voice work in the Detective Pikachu movie, it's going to be very interesting to find out what his new roles of the future look like!

6. Alanis Morissette

With some of the catchiest tunes to ever hit the airwaves, Alanis Morissette has cemented her place in history. Her biggest success came out of 1995's Jagged Little Pill record, which sold over 33 million copies globally. To this day, it holds up as an intensely timeless album, and one we can listen to on repeat day-in, day-out.

5. Brooke Lynn Hytes

She may have just been pipped to the RuPaul's Drag Race Season 11 crown by Yvie Oddly, but that hasn't stopped Brooke Lynn Hytes from showcasing her star talent since being shot to stardom, thanks to an incredible performance on the show. Uniquely charming and mesmerising when she's up on the stage, Hytes is somebody who will fight for equality and fairness through society, using her influential power for good.

4. Justin Bieber

Whether you love him or cannot stand him, Justin Bieber is one of the most instantly-recognisable faces and names of the modern day. His arrogance seems to have waned in recent years, with a more mature head on his shoulders, and his recent marriage to Hailey Rhode Bieber, aka Hailey Baldwin, seems to have pushed him further into adulthood. Let's hope that the days of peeing in buckets are behind him! Then again, he did recently challenge actor Tom Cruise to a boxing match, so what is really going on inside his head is anybody's guess!

3. Sandra Oh

Whether you know her following her time as Cristina Yang in Grey's Anatomy, or were more recently introduced to her acting skills watching her play the titular role in Killing Eve, Sandra Oh is without a doubt one of the most talented actors on the planet. She has the unique ability to bring a smile to the faces of all those watching her whenever she's in action, and has always come across as an incredibly humble and decent human being in her real-life interactions.

2. Justin Trudeau

The current Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau is Leader of the Liberal Party, and saw the largest-ever numerical increase by a party in a Canadian general election back in 2015, when he helped move the Liberals from 36 seats in government, to a whopping 184. Whether or not you agree with his politics, it's hard to argue he's not fighting for the good of his people with each move he makes whilst in office. Trudeau will face a huge test later this year (2019), when he defends his position as Prime Minister in a federal election, taking place on or before October 21.

1. Celine Dion

Celine Dion is a woman who seemingly never had a 'normal' life. She shot to fame in her teenage years thanks to homeland success with a series of French albums during the 1980s, and from that point has used her incredible vocal ability to inspire and mystify millions around the world. With over 15 years experience performing in Las Vegas, Dion brought her second production at The Colosseum, Caesars Palace to an end on June 8, 2019.  She'll kick off a world tour in September of this year, starting of course in her home country of Canada!
