There is uproar in the northern gay community as Manchester Pride announce extortionate ticket prices for their 2019 event. LGBT+ folk are divided over being unwilling to pay this amount, given that it was less than £30 last year, and suspicions that there will be a particularly special headline act.
Manchester Pride Live goers are starting to wonder if the ticket prices have more than doubled for a very good reason; they are yet to announce the headline act for this year's live show, but people are convinced that Ariana Grande is coming to town.
The singer has close ties with the city following the Manchester Arena bombing in 2017. She hosted the televised benefit concert One Love Manchester just weeks later, and became the first person ever to be named an honorary citizen of Manchester by the City Council. Being the huge gay icon that she is, she would indeed be the headliner of a lifetime for this amazing event if she were to be announced.
Until that announcement, though, Manchester Pride goers will continue to be furious over having to pay £71.95 for the event. And while we respect that it has genuinely angered and upset a lot of people, many of the responses to the situation on Twitter have been absolutely priceless.
If you are willing to splash the cash on this year's festival, you can purchase tickets here from 6pm today (January 31). The Pride event is set to take place from August 23-26 2019.
We've had a good laugh at the backlash today, and here are some of the funniest Tweets we've come across:
A divided community
White people
Far too expensive
Stop being poor!
Lucy Spraggan again?
It better be Gaychella
Are you on drugs?
Still gonna buy a ticket
Could it be Ariana Grande?
