While the presidential elections are more than two months away you can already feel the heat. November 5th is the day when the United States of America is going to decide between presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. More than a month ago, it appeared that we were going to witness a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. The two men went one against another in 2020 with Biden taking the win four years ago.
Joe Biden was supposed to be the candidate in 2024 and he started to campaign. But, only after a few debate performances and rallies it was evident that he was not the man for the task. The pressure was mounted on Biden to withdraw as the Democrat win was in jeopardy with him as the candidate. If Biden remains in his position you'd be advised by us to bet with Bitcoin or USD on this years USA president elections and to bet on Donald Trump as Biden would stand no chance against him.
This became evident to everyone in the Democratic party and to Biden himself. He withdrew and endorsed his vice-president candidate Kamala Harris for the presidency. Since the 21st of July, it is Kamala Harris who is standing opposite Donald Trump. If you look at the national averages it is evident that Ms. Harris holds more than enough support to enter the Democratic National Convention and win the nomination. While the support from the Democrat top brass is there, she will have to put a lot of effort into courting regular voters who are well aware of who Donald Trump is but know little about her.
Trump's campaign has been well underway for some time now, and one could argue that he has a slight advantage by starting early and being a clear Republican nominee. While Kamala Harris is an independent candidate from the soon-to-be former President Joe Biden, her campaign will be burdened by the issues his administration left behind in terms of industrial policy, foreign policy, and high inflation. What works to her advantage when compared to both Biden and Trump is her age. At only 59 years of age, Ms. Harris is two decades younger than both candidates and thus entitles more trust from casual voters who started to doubt the ability of older men to lead the country based on the last two terms in the White House led by Trump/Biden.
One could argue that we're facing a brand new and clean candidate in Kamala Harris. The same can't be said for Mr. Trump. After one term in the White House, he lost the 2020 presidential race which was marred with a ton of controversy. Trump's supporters tried to overturn the results of his loss, and in the aftermath, Trump was left with facing federal charges. The worst part is that he still is not cleared of accusations tied to his 2016 campaign where allegations of hush-money payments are still standing strong. One of the clear signs that we're in for a rough ride was Trump's July 13th rally in Pennsylvania where he was shot at by a 20-year-old man. His ear was grazed and a bystander was shot dead. This was a clear sign that the temperature was boiling and that the pot of Trump's campaign might explode.
While it appeared that after the shooting, Donald Trump was prepared to lower his guard and change the trajectory of his campaign the following rallies he was back to his old self with divisive speeches and accusations against his adversaries. While this approach worked in the past, it is failing Trump as of now.
During the time Joe Biden was his adversary the polls conducted by The Economist showed that Trump holds an advantage over Biden. Now that he no longer has Joe as his counter-candidate the tides have shifted in Kamala Harris's favor. The Democratic candidate currently leads the polls over Trump. Yes, the difference is not all that massive, but considering that she's been in the race for only two months and Trump has been campaigning for years, this is a good sign for her candidature.
He needs to push hard in the next two months as a few important dates await both us and the presidential candidates. The first date that everyone had their eyes on was the 19th of August when the Democratic National Convention was held. The Republicans already had theirs, and Donald Trump was nominated. While it was clear that Kamala Harris is the Democratic candidate she still needed to be formally nominated, and that happened in Chicago a few days ago.
With the party conventions behind us, what everyone is looking forward to is another presidential debate. The next one is scheduled for the 10th of September, and it will be held on ABC News. This date happens precisely one week after Labour Day and for all Americans that's the time of election circle when their focus starts shifting towards elections. During the previous presidential debate, it was evident that Joe Biden was out of his depth and that with him as the candidate the Democrats would be facing an almost surefire loss. After his failure to captivate the voters and to show resilience toward Donald Trump he was replaced by Kamala Harris. Everyone is expecting Ms. Kamala to be the much worthier opponent for never louder Donald Trump. For those eager to see the two candidates facing off, the chance will arise on two additional debates that will be on Fox News and NBC respectively.
Once the candidates cross the spears a few more times, the time will be for the day of elections and that's November 5th. The excitement surrounding the incoming elections grows every day. If Trump wins, no one is sure what to expect. The continuation of his previous policies or another u-turn? With a wrecking ball of his capabilities, no one can be too sure. On the other hand, Kamala Harris is sure to bring many changes to the America we know. By being the first female, black, and Asian candidate she would give the White House a different outlook as never seen before.
