England are due to name their squad for the West Indies three-match ODI series in the next few days while Australia are set to unveil their Ashes squad before the end of the week.

The Windies women, meanwhile, warmed up for their England series with a 3-0 win over Ireland in their three-match Twenty20 International series.

After winning the first match by six wickets and the second by four wickets, the Windies completed the clean sweep with a 72-run win in the final match.

Hayley Matthews smashed an unbeaten 107 from 62 balls with nine sixes and seven fours as the visitors posted 188 for one in their 20 overs.

Ireland replied with 116 for three with Mary Waldron top-scoring with an unbeaten 55.

Golf

Jeongeun Lee6 can call herself a major champion after she won the 2019 US Open at the Country Club of Charleston in South Carolina.

The South Korean, who only joined the LPGA Tour full-time at the start of the year, carded a final round one-under-par 70 to secure a two-stroke win with United States pair Lexi Thompson and Angel Yin tied for second.

"Throughout the year I couldn’t imagine coming this far, winning the first LPGA tournament, also a major championship," the South Korean, who walked away with a winner's cheque of $1-million, said. "I worked so hard and I feel proud of myself."

Football

Away from the World Cup and Manchester City have added another Liverpool player to their squad as they have signed midfielder Laura Coombs on a two-year deal.

"City are a really ambitious club and there are a lot of things in my career I still want to achieve," Coombs told the City website.

She added: "I'd love to get far in the Champions League. "I've played a few games at previous clubs but here, I feel there's a real opportunity to go deep into the competition."

Nike has released another inspirational ad ahead of the Women's World Cup, which starts on Friday.

In some World Cup warm-up matches, England lost their final friendly before the tournament against New Zealand with Sarah Gregorius scoring the only goal of the game.

In other results, Sweden beat South Korea 1-0, France were 2-1 winners over China, Norway hammered South Africa 7-2 and the Netherlands were 3-0 winners over Australia.

Netball

Tracey Neville has confirmed she will step down as England head coach after the Netball World Cup in July, following four years in charge of the national team.

Neville led the Roses to gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Australia.

"Being the head coach is something I have relished and I am extremely proud to have had the opportunity to do," the 42-year-old said. "Over the last few months I have sat down with England Netball to look at how I could fulfil my role whilst taking into consideration my personal circumstances. My ambition to have a family is something I want to commit to after the Netball World Cup.

"The Roses’ future is paramount in my thoughts and plans and I will passionately and wholeheartedly continue to support them and England Netball. I will hopefully get an opportunity to lead again in the future. To the staff/players, past and present you have challenged me in every way possible and I am eternally grateful for your commitment and support within the program and on our journey together."

Northern Ireland have named their 12-player squad for Netball World Cup in Liverpool from July 12-21 with Manchester Thunder's Caroline O'Hanlon confirmed as captain.

Dan Ryan has also included Shaunagh Craig in his squad. Craig is uncapped by Northern Ireland, but she previously represented England.

Tennis

In Paris, there have been plenty of upsets in week one of the French Open with world No 1 Naomi Osaka, second seed Karolina Pliskova and former champion Serena Williams all falling.

Johanna Konta, though, continues her glorious run at Roland Garros as she has become the first British woman since Jo Durie in 1983 to reach the quarter-final at Roland Garros.

The British No 1 beat Donna Vekic 6-2, 6-4 and next up is seventh seed and last year's runner-up Sloane Stephens, who brushed aside former champion Garbine Muguruza.
