This year we’ve had break-ups, engagements, secret marriages and royal weddings… And throughout the year they’ve all dominated celebrity news.
Break-ups
Let’s get the sad bit over with first. There have been quite a few break-ups that have rocked the celebrity scene in 2018.
Cheryl and Liam Payne
Sadly, Cheryl and Liam announced that they had parted ways in July. After spending two years together and having a baby boy, Bear, the couple decided to end their relationship.
The break-up seemed pretty amicable, though, with the couple saying they ‘had so much love for each other as a family’.
We really hope 2019 is a bright year for Cheryl and Liam.
Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson
The biggest name in pop music, Ariana Grande, and Saturday Night Live comedian, Pete Davidson seemed like the perfect couple until Ari broke off their engagement in October. It came as quite a shock to her fans, but understandable given what she has been through this year.
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux
We are so sad this one didn’t last forever. Jen and Justin split in February after two years of marriage.
Both parties are said to have been dated other people since their split, with a number of men pining over Jen. We’re not surprised!
Marriages
It’s been the year of secret marriages in Hollywood, with some huge names having small ceremonies.
Hailey Baldwin and Justin Bieber
Hailey and Justin quickly became engaged this year and tied the knot not long after in a secret ceremony.
Their marriage was confirmed on Instagram (obv), when Hailey changed her handle from Baldwin to Bieber… aww…
Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth
The internet went wild for Miley’s announcement just yesterday that her and Liam Hemsworth said their I dos a couple of days before Christmas, in yet again, another secret ceremony.
Miley looked beautiful and subtle in the wedding photos she shared with her followers. We wish the happy couple all the best as they enter 2019 in married life.
Meghan Trainor and Daryl Sabara
Another recent wedding which went ahead on the quiet was between Meghan and Daryl. The happy couple got married on her 25th birthday (cute) in a small ceremony in their L.A. home surrounded by friends and family (even cuter).
Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas
Philanthropist, model, film producer, singer, actress and all-round Bollywood royalty, Priyanka Chopra, married Nick Jonas at the beginning of December.
The wedding is said to have been a Christian ceremony followed by a traditional Hindu wedding.
The couple looked absolutely brilliant on their big day.
Emily Ratajkowski and Sebastian Bear-McClard
Stunning supermodel Emily married filmmaker Sebastian in New York City in Febaruary.
The couple said their I dos in a secret ceremony, and Emily later announced their fantastic news on Instagram.
Karlie Kloss and Joshua Kushner
Another one of our favourite supermodels has settled down into married life this year – Karlie Kloss.
She married American businessman Joshua Kushner in October, at a Jewish ceremony. All the details were kept quiet until she posted a snap for her followers of the ceremony.
Gwyneth Paltrow and Brad Falchuk
Gwyneth married fiancé Brad at an intimate wedding in September, in the Hamptons.
It was a relatively small ceremony of just 75 guests and not so surprisingly there were some big names in attendance… something about Robert Downey Jr breakdancing?!
Royal weddings
We love hearing about our favourite celebrities getting their happily ever after, but nothing quite beats the fascination and excitement of a royal wedding.
This year we were lucky enough to have not one but two. First was Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, who married on 19 May. Then Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank tied the knot on 12 October.
Both weddings were widely covered and hugely anticipated.
Since then, we’ve had the super-exciting news that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expecting a baby in the Spring of 2019 – so bring on next year!
