Joan Jett and Cherie Currie are fighting a legal battle to stop the release of a tribute album to their old band The Runaways.
The two musicians have filed a law suit in New York against Main Man records, a record company renowned for its compilation CDs. The lawsuit prohibits the selling of The Runaways compilation CD Take It or Leave It: A Tribute to the Queen of Noise.
The album was due to go on sale on 28 June but Cherie and Joan's lawyers have claimed the labels executives do not have the right to use their clients names to promote the CD.
The two musicians have seen a rise in their popularity since the release of 2010 Runaways biopic staring Kristen Steward and Dakota Fanning.
