The 'Blank Space' hitmaker - who was crowned International Female Solo Artist at the BRIT Awards with MasterCard tonight (25.02.15) - couldn't help but gush about her "amazing" first win at the ceremony.

Speaking after she was handed her gong, she told BANG Showbiz: "I'm way too excited about it I need to calm down. It's been the most amazing slow build love affair with England and the UK.

"Starting out playing King's College and getting ready eight years later... to play sold out Hyde Park is like, 'What?' So this first BRIT Award couldn't have come at a better time. It's amazing."

The 25-year-old singer - whose fifth studio album, '1989', topped the charts in over ten countries - thinks her sound has "changed" ever since she started writing at 12-years-old.

She said: "I've been writing songs since I was 12 years old and with every album they've changed.

"'1989' is my favourite by far so I'm really happy that's the one people like. It's really convenient for me!"

Taylor kicked off this year's ceremony with a performance of her hit track 'Blank Space'.
