Simon Cowell has admitted "nothing happens" with a lot of reality TV show winners.
The 55-year-old music mogul has joined forces with pop star Ricky Martin to find the ultimate Latin boy band in a show called 'La Banda' and has revealed he's determined to unearth an act that achieves something concrete with their career.
He told 'The Late Late Show': "We thought it was a good idea to create a show where we make show where we create a Latin boyband super group and Univision wanted to make a show like this so it is going on air this fall.
"The problem with a lot of these shows are you get a winner and nothing happens. I want a winner that is going to do something."
Meanwhile, Simon recently confessed he was "about to jump off a cliff" when he learnt Zayn Malik was quitting One Direction.
Initially, Simon tried to convince the boy band member to remain with the group, but ultimately decided it was best to allow Zayn to leave.
He said: "I was just about to jump off a cliff.
"I was trying to say to him [Zayn] he should stay around a bit longer. But something inside him said he'd had enough.
"I saw him in person as well - but once someone has made their mind up they are going to go.
"At the same time I don't want to push him too much because he's 22 and I could see he was a bit stressed and needed some time off."
