Peter Kay's 'Phoenix Nights' live shows raised over £5 million for Comic Relief.

The 41-year-old comedian has confirmed that with the help of his co-stars and fans of the TV show, which aired for two series from 2000 to 2001, the stage show version has managed to raise the whopping sum for the charity.
A statement on his Facebook page reads: "A huge thank you to everyone who came and supported Phoenix Nights Live:
"Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights which took over Manchester Arena last month has raised an astonishing £5,031,146.47 for Comic Relief, the most money raised by a live comedy show in the world.
"Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights live received rapturous applause from audiences and critics alike over 16 sold out shows selling a massive 196,000 tickets."
Kay reprised his role as working men's club owner Brian Potter alongside Paddy McGuinness as doorman Paddy and Dave Spikey as Jerry 'St. Clair' Dignan for free with all proceeds going to Comic Relief ahead of Red Nose Day tomorrow (13.03.15).
