Pete Wentz is worried his children will inherit bipolar disorder.
The Fall Out Boy bassist, who has six-year-old son Bronx with ex-wife Ashlee Simpson and five-month-old son Saint with girlfriend Meagan Camper, was diagnosed with the manic-depressive disorder when he was a teenager and credits his children for helping him to get his life under control.
Asked if he fears his boys might experience the same "highs and lows" in the future as he has, he said: "Yeah, that's one of the things I've worried about."
Pete says his children are "the ultimate happy pill" and have helped him to manage his depression after years of self-medicating .
He told Howard Stern on his SiriusXM radio show: "My highs, my happiness are really high and my lows are very low and I'm not able to regulate between the two. Through actual therapy and having kids it's way more under control and something I can see when I'm on the roller coaster and control it more."
The 'Centuries' hitmaker decided to prioritise his own health after realising people in the music industry "don't care."
He said: "For me... you're travelling on the road. Everything is available to you and you can get what you need to get, or not... People just want to keep the machine going. They don't so much care how healthy you are."
