Kanye West is "getting some pointers" from John Legend.

The 37-year-old rapper praised the 'All Of Me' hitmaker as the pair celebrated the 36-year-old singer's birthday and the tenth anniversary of his debut album, 'Get Lifted', alongside their wives - Kim Kardashian West and Chrissy Teigen - and other guests.

Toasting John's success, Kanye said: "A gentleman, a very well-mannered human being right here."

He then quipped: "I'm trying to get some pointers from him. I don't want to be the Phil Spector of hip-hop or anything."

John - who has been working with the 'Stronger' hitmaker for 13 years - also praised his friend who, he revealed, regularly compared him to the musical legend, Stevie Wonder, at record label meetings.

The 'Ordinary People' hitmaker joked to those who had gathered at the party: "People were sceptical about us, they didn't know if we had what it takes to be successful.

"Kanye would take me to these meetings and jump on the table and tell people I was the next Stevie Wonder."

The party's guests - including Robert De Niro, Katie Couric, Estelle and Michael Strahan - enjoyed a three-course dinner before being treated to live music by Q-Tip whilst a 3-foot-tall birthday cake in the shape of a grand piano was presented to John.
