Kanye West claims Taylor Swift wanted him to interrupt Beck at the Grammy Awards.
The 37-year-old rapper, who famously grabbed the microphone from the 25-year-old beauty after she won Best Female Video instead of Beyoncé at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009, says she told him he should have gone through with his plan to storm the stage when the 44-year-old singer won Album of the Year at the ceremony on Sunday (08.02.15).
He said: "Taylor Swift came up to me right afterwards, literally right afterwards, and tells me I should have went on stage. This is the irony of my life!"
The 'Blank Space' hitmaker appears to have forgiven Kanye for humiliating her during her acceptance speech six years ago, as they are also planning to collaborate on a new track together.
He told 'On Air with Ryan Seacrest' on KIIS-FM: "She wants to get in the studio, and we're definitely going to go in. Any artist with an amazing point of view, perspective, fan base -- I'm down to get in the studio and work. I don't discriminate. I don't have an elitism of music because of how many Grammys or, you know, the amount of ratings you get on an album."
Meanwhile, the 'New Slaves' hitmaker insists he didn't mean to suggest Beck should "respect artistry" and give his award to Beyoncé, and hopes he and the 'Loser' hitmaker can still be friends.
He said: "I think it came off the wrong way, and that was a mis-wording on my part, because obviously Beck is one of the most respected artists and respects artistry. But I felt -- and this is my opinion and he's his own man and he's not wrong and we'll still go play basketball and stuff [unless] he doesn't want to do it -- that even though the Grammys sometimes give awards to people who you wouldn't think should win in the category, as a respect to artists, we mention the other artist's name in our speech."
