The 'All of Me' hitmaker "thought it was funny" when the rapper stormed the stage at the Grammy Awards on Sunday (08.02.15) in protest after Beck won Album of the Year instead of his friend Beyoncé.

Asked about the incident, the 36-year-old singer said: "I thought it was funny. I looked at it as just a funny thing that people were going to talk about.

"It didn't hurt anybody. Anybody who's upset just needs to relax. It was funny."

The 'New Slaves' rapper, who famously interrupted Taylor Swift's acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 after she won Best Female Video instead of Beyoncé, almost repeated the incident with Beck on Sunday, but thought better of it and walked off the stage before speaking.

Despite standing up for Kanye, 37, John believes "Beck won his award fair and square."

The R&B star told UsMagazine.com: "Beck is super talented and I have several of his albums and I've listened to him for a long time. I think people were surprised that he won but that doesn't mean he's not deserving, that just means people thought other people were going to win too."
