The former 'EastEnders' star has decided to seek professional help from a therapist in Dublin following a difficult year during which she found herself homeless.

She shared on Twitter: "Gone back to therapy to strengthen my self. After a hectic year , it's been so helpful. And found the most amazing therapist in Dublin (sic)."

The actress began playing Samantha Mitchell in the BBC One soap in 1990 but was later dismissed due to her highly-publicised struggle with cocaine.

The 41-year-old mother-of-two was recently left devastated after breaking up with her 25-year-old boyfriend Tom Richards and later found him unconscious on her doorstep after he took a dangerous cocktail of prescription drugs and alcohol.

A source told the Sunday Mirror: "Danniella was absolutely horrified. Their relationship has been very fiery.

"She finally had the strength to end it properly but Tom is making things very difficult for her.

"She has enough problems of her own, having lost her home recently. She has children to care for and provide for."

In December, Danniella - who has 18-year-old son Kai and 13-year-old daughter Jody - was reported to be house-hunting with Tom in one of Britain's cheapest areas, Walton in Liverpool.

A friend of the star said: "Danniella loves Liverpool, she thinks the people are really friendly to her and genuine.

"She has lived in the city when working on Hollyoaks and feels a move might be good for her."
