Damon Albarn has said he will be making an appearance on stage during his new opera show.
Albarn, who was a key member of Blur and The Gorillaz, stopped making records so he could focus on writing a new stage show, this one being his second.
Albarn’s first show was 2007’s Monkey: Journey To The West. This new show is called Doctor Dee and and focuses on the 16th century scientist John Dee.
Albarn is collaborating with theatre director Rufus Norris, and will be the first time Albarn has been on stage for a show like this. Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today Programme, "I'm myself. I'm not walking around in a ruff and tights."
Doctor Dee will premiere in Manchester, England in July 2011.
