Dakota Johnson thinks she looked "just like a bald alien" as a child.

The 25-year-old actress, who plays innocent student Anastasia Steele in the upcoming erotic film 'Fifty Shades of Grey,' claims she had to grow into her good looks.

The brunette beauty said: "In every photograph of me as a child, I look just like a bald alien. I thought my hair looked good in a slicked-back ponytail, and I have a massive forehead. I grew out of that phase, and l learned about bangs!"

Dakota, who is the daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, also admits her famous mother still regularly embarrasses her and she was mortified after an encounter with US President Barack Obama.

She told the US edition of Glamour magazine: "My mom doesn't have a filter. President Obama came to her house for a fundraiser once. Before he could say hi to me, my mom goes, 'Oh, Mr. President, she's an actress.' I was like, 'Mom, shut up.' And he was like, 'Oh really? What have you been in?' I said, 'Ah... nothing.' And then my mom was like, 'Have you seen 'The Social Network'?' And I was like, 'Mom.' And he was like, 'Yes. What part were you?' And my mom goes, 'The scene where Justin Timberlake wakes up next to the girl!' Oh God, Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, help. And he goes, 'Oh, that's right, you were wearing short shorts.' And my mom's just like, 'Ha-ha!'"

The actress is currently dating Matthew Hitt and admits she is only attracted to "manly men."

She said: "I think it's unsexy when a man chews with his mouth open or when a man is rude or wears fedoras. I hate fedoras. Oh God, I can find more things I hate about men than I like. I think it's just a phase!"
