Cuba Gooding Jr. will play O.J. Simpson in a new TV series.
The 'Butler' actor has signed up to portray the former American footballer-turned-murder suspect in 'Glee' creator Ryan Murphy's new 10-episode miniseries, 'American Crime Story: The People V. O.J. Simpson', which is based on the best-selling book 'The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson' by Jeffrey Toobin.
'American Horror Story' star Sarah Paulson will reunite with Murphy on the project after he cast her in the role of prosecutor Marcia Clark in the crime thriller.
The series will be told from the lawyers' point of view in Simpson's 1995 two-count murder trial and will feature several different aspects of how and why the jury came to its conclusion that he was not guilty of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ronald Goldman.
The mini-series is the first of Murphy and Brad Falchuk's 'American Crime Story' anthology projects, which will see major news stories brought to life on small screen dramas.
Murphy will direct at least the first episode of the series and executive produce the project alongside Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson.
Production on the mini-series is expected to start early next year in Los Angeles.
